This 30-year-old vineyard is my favorite from the Soquel foothills.   We properly aged this Pinot for five years in neutral French oak barrels, which yielded four barrels from the 2015 vintage.  All three clones, the Dijon # 667, #777 and Pommard, were highly concentrated before reaching 23° brix from beautifully ripe small berries and clusters.  We were especially delicate in making this wine.  Any hint of over maceration would’ve made it a tannic monster.

   After gently fermenting each clone in its own individual yeast we barreled this wine and let it age slowly for five years in neutral French oak.  We only peeked at it occasionally, allowing it to mature as a beautiful debutante with full body and elegant structure, with hints of spice in the nose.

   This Pinot Noir can be enjoyed right away.  Its complex and enticing aromas make it difficult to resist!  We’re already setting aside numerous cases for our wine library, because this wine will not last long.
